Callann Wolff, Owner & Equine Facilitator
I grew up loving animals with my whole heart. I was the child who spent hours outside with her dog and made sure her salamander got enough sunlight each day. They were my first teachers in friendship, in presence, in joy.
As I grew older, there was less time for animals and nature as I followed a more traditional path focused on education and work. I studied at New York University and built a career as a business consultant, working with global organizations including Boeing, Western Union, and Global Empowerment Mission across the US, Africa, and the Middle East. The work was mentally stimulating but my heart wasn’t in it.
At twen, I took a leap of faith and purchased an older Appaloosa mare named Dalilama – Dolly. With little more than a childhood love of horses and a willingness to learn, what followed was nothing short of a transformation. Dolly set me on a course of confronting old wounds, embracing vulnerability, and learning what it truly means to be in relationship with another being. Horses see into your heart. They ask you to show up honestly, fully, and without pretense.
That experience led me back to myself. I reconnected to my intuition, began to trust my instincts, and deepened my yoga practice. I became certified as a Bhakti Vinyasa Yoga teacher, Animal Communicator, and Horse Dream Equine Assisted Leadership Coach, devoted to helping animals and humans understand one another, and themselves, more deeply.
My Dream made Real: Sanctuary QH
When I went looking for a place to keep Dolly, I stumbled upon the Hudson Valley, specifically Dutchess County, and fell completely in love. Diverse landscapes, four seasons, charming towns, healthy local food and pace of life that invites you to breathe. My husband and I bought a home in the area in 2015 and I found myself spending more and more of my life here.
As my relationship with Dolly grew and my life shifted, I knew I wanted to share the magic of our experience. It had always been my dream to provide a retreat with nature and animals for others to also enjoy a place of softness, beauty, safety and transformation.
When my husband & I visited this property it was a “coup de foudre.” The manifestation of my dream: from the solid Egyptian Revival Manor House to a separate Gathering Cottage, Secret Garden, waterfall and 16+ acres for my Animal Sanctuary. We knew it would provide an oasis for people arriving from the city, from demanding lives, from the struggles and relentlessness of the everyday. A place to feel the energy of horses. To journal, enjoy coffee at the firepit with friends, to let children dig in the dirt. To simply be — with the animals, with nature, with each other, and with ourselves.
I have witnessed firsthand the healing that unfolds when we slow down and open our awareness. The joy, the clarity, the love that becomes available when we are truly present. Sanctuary at Quaker Hill is my dream made real, and my deepest mission is to share that with you.
